Brand name means nothing to me with clothing. But the awards shows are a different thing. Those dresses are specially made by designers specifically for those actresses bodies for that special occasion. They weren't shipped in from China and bought off the rack at the mall. So, yeah, the hype is annoying and all that, but the fashion is why alot of people even watch (although I couldn't care less myself). For example with directors, whos making it really does matter. Theres a huge difference between people like Spielberg and Jason Friedberg (the homo who makes all those parody movies) or Scorsese and Ratner.
